The SHS Foundation is experiencing the same thing as many non-profit organizations; a lack of people willing to volunteer their time for community service. It simply isn\u2019t a popular thing to do these days.<\/p>\n
Our Foundation board currently has seven members. Our bylaws say that we cannot conduct business with less than seven members. Three of our key board members are scheduled to rotate off the board in June of 2024. We are seriously looking for parents, grandparents, and other interested adults to serve on our board.<\/p>\n
Our board is an easy board to volunteer with as we have a paid Executive Director that assists us in the management of the day-to-day operations of the Foundation. The board members have 3 main tasks: set board policy, oversee the finances, and bring in revenue.\u00a0 We only meet 9-10 times during a school year and we have one main fundraising event each year.<\/p>\n
Our main goal is to provide funds to support students in the Summerville Union High School District so that each student receives resources that will provide them with an excellent education that reaches beyond the standard main-stream student experience. The Foundation has provided close to 2.5 million dollars to enhance education at SUHSD since our beginning in 2003.\u00a0 This year we will be celebrating twenty years working with the high school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
